Sometimes, we as parents, are called to pray for our children by God. This morning as I was spending time with the Lord is one of those times. Below is a prayer I prayed through one of the Bible Plans on the Holy Bible app. It is from “Powerful Prayers for Your Son” of which has been adapted to pray for your children as the Holy Spirit has guided.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I don’t know how to pray for my children. All I know for certain is that they need You. This world is full of pain, violence and sin. Today, when I’m confused, anxious and doubtful that they will find their way, I trust that You know. Thank You for Your Holy Spirit who prays for my children when they can’t pray for themselves. When I become discouraged and wonder if they are going to make it, I praise You that Your heart is with us. When I grieve over their mistakes and their consequences, You remind me of Your patience and forgiveness. When they are wounded or weak, Your Word tells me You are our Healer! When I feel like we are in a daily battle with one another, You declare that You are our Peace! Thank You for Your Wisdom when I am foolish; Your knowledge when I don’t have a clue; Your outpouring of Grace and Mercy when I am ready to quit; Your arms of refuge when I don’t understand them; and Your Love that envelops me to reassure me that You are with them! Open my eyes to see what my children need most. As it says in Mark 8:36-37 NLT when Jesus is speaking, “36 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? 37 Is anything worth more than your soul?” Guide my prayers so I can lift up my children and their souls to You. I want to place them in Your hands so I don’t bear the weight of their future on my shoulders.

Thank You, Father, for Your gift of prayer and the Holy Spirit! You are always with me. You always listen and respond when I cry out to You! You care when I am hurting and afraid! You cover my mistakes as a parent with Your perfect love. And most of all, You love my children and know them through and through. I praise Your name for the Hope we have in You! We are saved and we are Yours forever! In Jesus Christ’s precious name we pray, Amen and Amen
