Have you ever thought of your marriage as a business partnered with God? Or your spouse as one of your customers?
When the Holy Spirit brought this to my attention, it was like a light bulb went off in my head!
The principles needed to run a successful business God’s way are first learned and mastered by creating a successful marriage.
1 Timothy 3:5 NLT says, “For if a man cannot manage his own household, how can he take care of God’s church?”
Let’s stop and think about this for a moment!
Your spouse is actually your first customer! So, if you can make them happy then you have learned how to make the majority of your other customers happy! You just apply what you have learned from God through your marriage to the business God gave you.
Actually, if you read 1 Timoty 3:1-4: 1 This is a trustworthy saying: “if someone aspires to be a church leader, he desires an honorable position.” 2 So a church leader must be a man whose life is above reproach. He must be faithful to his wife. He must exercise self-control, live wisely, and have a good reputation. He must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must be able to teach. 3 He must not be a heavy drinker or be violent. He must be gentle, not quarrelsome, and not love money. 4 He must manage his own family well, having children who respect and obey him.
You see, my friends, the above scriptures first talk about the marriage and spouse. The scripture speaks about this because a ministry or Godly business is a larger representation of your marriage.
In Luke 16:10, Jesus says, “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.”
Jesus goes on to say, in verses 11-12: 11″And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven? 12 And if you are not faithful with other people’s things, why should you be trusted with things of your own?”
There is no condemnation in Christ, therefore, I tell you that you should not beat yourself up and put yourself down because you haven’t been serving your spouse like Jesus served the church.
Instead, allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you about restoration and change in your marriage! This is where you start!
I was intrigued with the thought of your spouse being your customer. That is when I was taken to Colossians 3:23….Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.
That is how I want to always treat my husband, Vik, as I am serving my best friend, Jesus Christ! It doesn’t matter if I am upset or have hurt feelings or just don’t feel like it. What matters is that my Savior gave me to him as his helper. Therefore, I will do the best I can, no matter what and that I please Jesus because that is what I am called to do!
I hope this helps you and your marriage! You can always go to our Prayer Wall and add a prayer request. It does not need to be about marriage or a relationship. It can be about anything! It would be our pleasure to pray and stand with you!
