DISCIPLINE = Wisdom

As I was woken up this morning to write blogs, I remembered that I had prayed to Jesus for wisdom. Do you understand what that means?

First, the Hebrew word ‘hakma’ is their word for wisdom. Then their is the word ‘musar’ which means training with accountability. Think about that!

Training with accountability…hmm? Have you ever been micro-managed? Having someone breathing over your shoulder watching every stroke on the keyboard of your computer scrutinizing your work? IT IS NOT FUN!!

So, as I am going about my daily business, you know the Holy Spirit is always talking to you or it’s Jesus or it’s God….one of the Godhead is always in your ear…did you know that? I do, and when things start happening or changing around you, you pay attention because one of them is trying to make sure you understand! Or at least, that is what happens in my case.

You see, I have given my life to Jesus Christ which means I am not my own. I have the gift of words, writing and He uses me as evidenced in my blogs; my books when I can get them published (in His timing which is always perfect); and my conversations. Most of the time, I say things that pop into my head because I know when “THEY” are speaking. Like one time, I was at a friend’s house and there had been major changes that had happened in their life. They had had to return to where they had originally started their business and I kept hearing these little innuendos about how this was better because they moved back and if they had stayed where they were their finances would be better, etc. I felt something from deep with well up inside of me…so much bigger and He SPOKE: Do you not remember what happened during the time you were at the other place? If you had remained here, you would not have been able to handle the situations! You were unable to pay for the space you occupied monetarily, but you made an ugly place BEAUTIFUL! What a blessing it was to the owner and to Your God! You obeyed what you were told to do. Now you are back to where you started which is where you are supposed to be at this time. God’s plans are bigger than yours! Stop complaining and start thanking Him who takes care of you! He provided everything you needed for your commitments. He is faithful! Praise His Holy name! (these are not the exact words because I do not remember them, but the Holy Spirit graciously gave me the gist of what happened).

So, wisdom, sometimes comes through the pain of personal confrontation by friends, or from learning from one’s mistakes or from the suffering that God judiciously allows into our lives.

Proust, a writer from the 1800’s, wrote that wisdom can be discovered only “after a journey through the wilderness which no one can make for us, which no one can spare us.”

In order for us to become wise, we have to become a disciplined person, given not to impulsiveness, but to self-examination. I had to stop and contemplate that for a bit. In my other marriages, I remember hearing “you are always right”. I struggled with this for a while because, you see, I always tried to look at all sides of the “idea, thought, concept or decision” that was before us. Then, I would say what I thought to be the best option. So, my husbands would get frustrated with me making the statement that I was always right. I never really understood until NOW!

That is why God has given me the gift of words. Because I have listened and didn’t blurt out whatever came to my mind. I don’t do well being put on the spot because I have to think about things, talk to God and see what He reveals. Oh my Savior, thank You for finally revealing a truth that I could not see until Your timing was perfect for me to understand! What a blessing You are to me, Jesus!

Remember, wisdom is hard won through clear thinking and reflection. It is learned through living life in this chaotic world and perseverance. However, not everyone gets wisdom. I didn’t realize that this was part of my anointing. It doesn’t mean that I have wisdom 100% of the time, but it does mean that He gives it to me when I need it!

I hope this helps you and your marriage! You can always go to our Prayer Wall and add a prayer request. It does not need to be about marriage or a relationship. It can be about anything! It would be our pleasure to pray and stand with you!

If you need to talk with someone, please reach out to info@unitymarriageministry.org. It would bless and honor us to speak with you! REMEMBER:
