Generosity…do you know the meaning of this word? Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines the word generous as
a. liberal in giving
b. marked by abundance or ample proportions
Therefore, the word GENEROSITY is:
a. the quality or fact of being generous
b. a generous act
Generosity can, also, mean Abundance.
So, now that we know what it all means, let’s get down to some brass tacks!
Do you feel depleted? Like you are going through a dry spell? Do you feel like you have nothing else to give?
I know I have felt that way from time to time. I found that I needed to rediscover the secret of GENEROSITY. It brings us closer to God and fills up the emptiness with new life! Then, I feel refreshed and I can love on my family and make sure they are getting filled up, too!
My favorite scripture: Psalms 23
1 The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, 3 H refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows, 6 Surely Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
I challenge you to write down 3 things where you have seen God’s generosity in your own life. Then, thank Him for all He has done for you. Once you have completed this exercise, I believe your heart will be refreshed, just like I did!
Oh, here are my 3:
- I am grateful to not have to punch a time clock anymore. I never thought I would be able to retire, but God make a way!
- Every time something comes up, I recognized that I cannot do this without God’s help. I just tell Him, “I can’t do this and I don’t know what You want me to do. You will have to take care of it or show me and provide me the means.” Sometimes I try too hard and get all tangled. Jesus and the Holy Spirit untangle me and give me the refuge I need.
- He gives me the added EXTRA STRENGTH I need to deal with the everyday life of a caretaker. I could not do it if it wasn’t for God!
So…..did you figure out the secret? It’s GIVING!
