GODLY FRIENDS

The Holy Spirit told me that He wanted to do a blog today about “Godly Friends”. I was like okay. I can do that.

I was thinking about our godly friends and we have quite a few. However, He said to me…”did you know that men, especially, need godly friends?”

It appears easier for women to surround themselves with godly friends than it does for men. Finding people that you have something in common with is not always easy. But for men, a lot of times they are not good at breaking the ice and starting a conversation with other men.

My husband, Vik, struggles with this sometimes ever since he had a traumatic brain injury in 2017. His entire personality changed. He was an extrovert before the injury, now he is an introvert trying to connect with others by stepping out in faith where the Holy Spirit leads him.

God tells us in Hebrews 10:24-25: “24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

So, let’s pray:

Father, thank you for the gift of friendships. Please bring friends into my husband’s life that will stick close to him, encourage him and hold him accountable. I also ask that you help my husband to BE a good friend, one who sees the needs of those around him and offers the same hope and encouragement in return. Help him not to go through this life alone without other godly men in his life. Protect and keep anyone away from him that may lead him to foolishness and harm. In Jesus Christ’s name I pray, Amen. (prayer taken from a Bible Plan entitled ‘Praying Scripture Over Your Husband’)

Proverbs 13:20, “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffer harm.”

Psalms 119:63, “I am a friend to all who fear you, to all who follow your precepts.”

I hope this helps you and your marriage! You can always go to our Prayer Wall and add a prayer request. It does not need to be about marriage or a relationship. It can be about anything! It would be our pleasure to pray and stand with you!

If you need to talk with someone, please reach out to info@unitymarriageministry.org. It would bless and honor us to speak with you! REMEMBER:
