Did you know that a day of rest is God’s gift to us? The same thing applies in our marriages. We must rest in order to be able to GIVE to our spouse and our families.
Genesis 2:3 NIV says, “Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it He rested from all the work of creating that He had done.”
You see from the scripture above that even God rested on the 7th day. So, my question to you is: What day do you set aside to rest? I mean, what day do you not work? What day is devoted to spending time with your spouse and/or family & friends without thinking about work, taking phone calls, getting online to do research or write an email, send a text to someone about work?
My husband, Vik and I usually set Saturday as our Sabbath. We attend church, fellowship with our community and spend time enjoying life doing whatever we want. Now, it happens sometimes, that we end up having to work helping family or friends do something that is not always enjoyable but necessary, like move or fix something. When that happens, we choose another day to rest.
When you fill yourself up with the word of God, prayer, fellowshipping with others who think and live like you, it makes God happy! He wants us to have joy even when things seem like they are crumbling around us. He gives us His joy which is way better than whatever we can dream up…lol!
So, let’s take the time to set aside a day of rest, a Sabbath day, to refuel and just be, so we can GIVE like we are called to give!
I hope this helps you and your marriage! You can always go to our Prayer Wall and add a prayer request. It does not need to be about marriage or a relationship. It can be about anything! It would be our pleasure to pray and stand with you!
If you need to talk with someone, please reach out to info@unitymarriageministry.org. It would bless and honor us to speak with you! REMEMBER:
WE ARE HERE FOR YOU!
