JEALOUSY…..that’s a big word! We need to understand the difference between the two.
God’s Jealousy is mentioned many times in the Bible. It is righteous and godly. God wants us to turn away from anything that we worship other than Himself. We are to love Him and serve Him alone. God is not jealous because He is insecure in Himself. He is jealous for His glory. His jealousy is a supreme act of love towards us. (some content is taken from the Bible Plan titled How to Deal with Jealousy in a Christian Marriage).
It reads in Exodus 34:14 NIV, “Do not worship any other God, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.”
God made us for His purpose and He will not tolerate anything standing between Him and the praise, worship and honor that is due to Him from us.
Human jealousy is a negative emotion. It is based on insecurities within ourselves. We become suspicious of our spouse because they were talking to someone. We start to imagine all kinds of things and our minds play tricks on us. That is the enemy trying to cause dissention in your relationship. If you cannot trust your spouse, who can you trust?! This type of jealousy hurts us, our spouse and can break up a marriage! You need to talk to someone like a Christion counselor to help you overcome if you cannot get past this with the help of the Holy Spirit. It just means there is more underlying this emotion that you have not dealt with and you need to deal with it in order to have a good relationship.
I would suggest if you are dealing with jealousy, that you get on your knees in your secret place and go directly to Jesus and ask for help. Lay it at His feet, but don’t pick it back up again. If you do, then lay it back down and keep doing it until you finally leave it there,,,,where? IN THE PAST!!
I hope this helps you and your marriage! You can always go to our Prayer Wall and add a prayer request. It does not need to be about marriage or a relationship. It can be about anything! It would be our pleasure to pray and stand with you!
If you need to talk with someone, please reach out to info@unitymarriageministry.org. It would bless and honor us to speak with you! REMEMBER:
WE ARE HERE FOR YOU!
