Island of the Sirens

Have you read Homer’s epic work, The Odyssey? It tells the story of Odysseus who encountered the Island of the Sirens. Sirens are creatures that inhabited this island and they had enchanting voices that distracted sailors from their path and imprisoned them forever. Fortunately, for the crew of Odysseus, he knew about the Sirens and had his men put wax in their ears so they would not be lured away towards the island.

We have to do the same thing in our marriages. We are not to listen to what others think or say about our marriages. When we have trials or troubles, we go to God first! He will direct our paths.

In the world today, marriages seem to be a dime a dozen and at the first sign of trouble, people throw them away! God created marriage to be a covenant-a deeply binding commitment to help us weather our hardest situations that arise. You have to put wax in your ears, so you are not listening to the voices telling you to get rid of your spouse. If your marriage is unhappy, it can still be saved! It’s not too late!

First, get on your knees and pray!!! I cannot emphasize PRAYER enough! It is THE most important thing you can do! I recommend this book, Why Keep Praying by Robert Morris. It answers so many questions.

Second, sit down with your spouse and talk. If that’s not possible, find a Christian Life Coach or Christian Marriage Counselor that you can talk with. They are unbiased and can help you sort things out. Remember, if these people are not pointing you to God, you need to find someone who will point you to God.

As you seek God and what He wants for your marriage, you will see how He can work in both of you! Read the book, War Room, or watch the movie! Watch how God answered their prayers!

I hope this helps you and your marriage! You can always go to our Prayer Wall and add a prayer request. It does not need to be about marriage or a relationship. It can be about anything! It would be our pleasure to pray and stand with you!

If you need to talk with someone, please reach out to info@unitymarriageministry.org. It would bless and honor us to speak with you! REMEMBER:

WE    ARE     HERE     FOR    YOU!
