Say “NO” To Ungodliness

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope–the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people that are His own, eager to do what is good.”    Titus 2:11-14 NIV

This scripture, right here, is what we all should be teaching to the younger generation, which means YOUR CHILDREN! Are you doing that? Think about it…..

What do your children see you doing? Are you setting the example of godliness; purity; cleanliness; kindness to others; praying for the less fortunate; serving others; sharing what we have with others; Giving (oohhh…this is a big one) meaning time talent and treasure; loving everyone, etc….the list is endless.

If you are the husband/father, you are the example they look up to. Who is your example? Why, Jesus, of course! He loved and taught the children about how to act and love each other. He taught how the older children can help the younger ones. It brings a cohesiveness to the family and community. The father’s role, also, includes how to treat the mother and to help with the chores so everyone shares the responsibility of keeping the house in order. This helps everyone and brings unity.

If you are the wife/mother, you nurture your children because they look up to you, as well. They can see what a godly woman looks like. For example, how they dress. Is your clothing modest? How do you wear your makeup? You can be stylish and still be a model of decorum for your children. Plus, the two of you as a team shows the children what a covenant marriage looks like!

When the mother and father work together to show and teach their children in the ways of the Bible, praying together and for each other, as well as, others in the community who are struggling or need healing, the children will go out and share with their peers the correct way to treat each other.

Remember in Luke 6:31 NIV, Jesus said “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”

I hope this gives you some great ideas and inspires you to ask the Holy Spirit for more ways to teach your children.

I hope this helps you and your marriage! You can always go to our Prayer Wall and add a prayer request. It does not need to be about marriage or a relationship. It can be about anything! It would be our pleasure to pray and stand with you!
