So, Where Did My JOY Go?

I got this title from a Bible Plan I am reading from the Holy Bible app One of my best friends, suggested “The Transforming Power of a Grateful Heart” Bible Plan. So, I checked it out.

While I was reading along, the Holy Spirit told me He wanted to do a blog on this. And now, here we are!

First, let’s look at the definition of the word Joy. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary says:

  1. the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune, or by the prospect of possessing what one desires.
  2. the state of happiness.

Hmm, is happiness and joy the same thing? Well, Merriam-Webster says:

  1. the state of well-being and contentment.
  2. a pleasurable or satisfying experience.

The definitions are similar, but not the same. OK, in the Bible, Jesus says: “I have told you this so my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” John 15:11 NIV

So, in John 15, Jesus says He is the vine and we are the branches. As we abide in Christ, things change. They might not be big, noticeable changes, at first, but miracles, signs and wonders will start to follow you wherever you go! Abiding in Jesus Christ means to worship, meditate on God’s Word, prayer, sacrifice and service! God never said this would be an easy life, but He gives us His joy through the Holy Spirit. That’s why He sent the helper!

You see, our lives, our spouses, our families, communities, neighborhoods, cities, states, countries…..the world all need to have fulfilling lives. That is what Jesus Christ came to give us!

He showed us how doing something good for someone else makes us feel joy. But being happy doesn’t necessarily mean you have joy.

Through the Holy Spirit, we can experience God’s goodness. In turn, we can show God’s goodness to others. AND, in doing so, we bring unity to the world which is what Jesus came to do besides, saving us from ourselves! The Holy Spirit has many fruits He shares with us when we keep our focus on Jesus!

I hope this helps you and your marriage! You can always go to our Prayer Wall and add a prayer request. It does not need to be about marriage or a relationship. It can be about anything! It would be our pleasure to pray and stand with you!

If you need to talk with someone, please reach out to info@unitymarriageministry.org. It would bless and honor us to speak with you! REMEMBER:

WE    ARE     HERE     FOR    YOU!
