When you see a policeman, how do you react? Do you look at your speedometer to see how fast you are going? Do you tell yourself to be calm and don’t do anything stupid? Me, I check to make sure I am not going too fast.
Sooo, do you react this same way with God? Maybe you are one of those people who see Him as a Cosmic Patrolman just waiting to hand out tickets and fines and to make your life more difficult.
In the Bible Paul says this is a poor view of God. God wants to protect you because He loves you! He wants to save you from yourself! It’s the same with the police. They are trying to help you from doing something that could hurt you and your family.
God does not remind you of your sins. Goodness, He sent His only son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross and absolve you of your sins! God wants you to succeed. He has a slightly larger view of your entire life because He wrote it!
When Jesus was resurrected at Easter, we rejoice because He paid the price for us! Colossians 2:14 NLT says, “He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.” God wants to help us, His children, to be successful!
I challenge you to write down on a piece of paper everything that has gone wrong in the last few days. Where have you hurt yourself, your spouse, your children, friends or God? Where do you need forgiveness? When you are finished, write below it: “Already paid, yours the police – um, yours Jesus.”
Romans 2:4 NIV, “Or do you show contempt for the riches of His kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentence?”
MEDITATE ON THIS BLOG AND REALLY THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU WROTE DOWN. You will gain a new perspective!
