Jesus said, “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit, He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. 9 As the Father has loved me, so I loved you. Now remain in my love.”
So, what did all this mean? Well, first, Jesus is the main vine that started all of the fruit bearing. There were others before Him that God was very pleased with, but because of all the sin in the world, God had to send Jesus to save us from ourselves!
He came to show men and women how to live in unity together and to love like He did. When you love, like Jesus did, it plants seeds that God will make grow! As believers, it is our responsibility to spread His love to everyone!
Now, loving everyone is not always easy, even if they are family! People can be cold and cruel. Even our spouses can be really mean to us. So, in those instances, we are to pray even though we don’t feel like it. God sees our hearts and He knows what is happening. When we pray, He knows we are doing our best to obey and follow His commands to love. That is what is important! We are to love our enemies, too! We do that by praying. Then Jesus knows that the pruning He has been doing in you is bearing good fruit He knows you are doing your best to stay in His word and to love. That is what He asks us to do for Him. Can we do this? ABSOLUTELY, we can! We can love and pray for everyone! AND when you don’t have the words, pray the Lord’s prayer. He understands your heart!
I hope this helps you and your marriage! You can always go to our Prayer Wall and add a prayer request. It does not need to be about marriage or a relationship. It can be about anything! It would be our pleasure to pray and stand with you!
