The marriage covenant is in the form of a triangle. God is at the top point with man to the left and woman to the right as shown below.
When the husband and wife are both believers it means they each have a personal relationship with God. This relationship began when they accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. The triangle shows each one pointed to God. Now with the bottom line of the triangle, it represents the Marriage Covenant they enter into, with God, in their marriage. So, when they declare their vows before God, they have entered into a Spiritual Union, first.
In Malachi 2:11 NIV, it reads, “Judah has been unfaithful. A detestable thing has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem: Judah has desecrated the sanctuary the Lord loves by marrying women who worship a foreign god.”
This scripture tells us that God calls marriage a sanctuary which means the dwelling place of God. Now, most people do not realize that God is present in our marriage union. Think about that!
It, also, says in Ecclesiastes 4:12, “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
This means that the Holy Spirit is the strand that strengthens the union between the husband and wife. So, pray together and thank our Father for being part of your marriage!
I hope this helps you and your marriage! You can always go to our Prayer Wall and add a prayer request. It does not need to be about marriage or a relationship. It can be about anything! It would be our pleasure to pray and stand with you!
