UNITY IN MARRIAGE

God designed marriage to be the most unified, intimate and special relationship on earth.

When you take marriage to its very beginning in the Bible in Genesis 2:18 where the Lord God says “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”

Our Father in His infinite wisdom knew man would not do well without a partner. He needed a helper.

You see, Marriage is a spirit to spirit bond between a man and a woman. It is a profound Unity and out of that Unity everything good flows within a marriage. It flows on every level; passion, kindness, contentment and happiness in life. Let me say this honestly, and many of us know this through experience, if you’re not happy in your marriage, you are not going to be happy, period! The good news is, it’s possible for all of us. The bad news is we have an evil enemy working constantly to divide us! He’s good at what he does and he has thousands of years of experience. However, if we keep Jesus at the center of our marriage and focus on Him, the devil CANNOT divide us!!! Jesus has already defeated him!!!

One day Vik and I came into the understanding that the devil was trying to divide us. I said we were supposed to hold hands and pray together. We needed to bind him in the name of Jesus. Vik had to think about that for a minute. I said we had never bound the devil from our marriage. It really made him think! We HAD never done anything like that. We WERE fighting all the time and over stupid stuff. I mean something was wrong and we knew it, but didn’t know what it was it. Vik was supposed to be leading this family and what I said really made sense for the first time!  Vik had never done something like this before because you see, he was raised Hindu and new to the Christian faith (and that is a whole other testimonial!). So, we held hands and he was so nervous. He just didn’t know how to pray out loud. He prayed by himself, but we had never prayed together as a couple. Vik, as the husband, knew it was on him to step out in faith! The Holy Spirit was right there leading and guiding his words! Here’s an example:

“In the name of Jesus, Satan, we bind you! You are not allowed in our home! Jesus has defeated you and He has given us authority over everything on this earth. We command you to leave and never come back! You are forbidden from whispering, talking or having anything to do with us and our family. We pray all this in the name of Jesus, AMEN!

Instantly something left the house.  You see, we don’t understand the authority that we have when we say, “in the name of Jesus.” Something changed in our home that day. It was like someone opened the drapes and sprayed Lysol to kill the germs. The air was lighter, it was sweeter, everything felt different! Literally, the next moment he just looked at me and thought…”Why was I mad at you?” and we were HEALED!!!! Thank you, Lord!

A scripture from the Holy Spirit was given to us on that day, Luke 11:14-20.  One day Jesus cast out a demon from a man who couldn’t speak, and when the demon was gone, the man began to speak. The crowds were amazed, but some of them said, no wonder he can cast out demons. He gets his power from Satan, the prince of demons. Others, trying to test Jesus, demanded that he show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove His authority. He knew their thoughts, so He said: “Any kingdom divided by civil war is doomed. A family splintered by feuding will fall apart. You say I am empowered by Satan. But if Satan is divided and fighting against himself, how can his kingdom survive? And if I am empowered by Satan, what about your own exorcists? They cast out demons, too, so they will condemn you for what you have said. But if I casting out demons by the power of God, then the Kingdom of God has arrived among you.”

So, basically in layman’s terms, Jesus is saying: “A Kingdom divided against itself falls. A house divided against itself cannot stand. So, if you’re divided, you’re already defeated!” Jesus is so much more powerful than the devil! He has given us authority over him!! Again, Jesus says in Luke Chapter 10:17-20, When the 72 disciples returned and joyfully reported to Him, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name! “Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.” Some people may say, “Well, I know that the original 12 disciples had supernatural power, but the rest of us? I don’t know about that.”

If you don’t know Jesus, have not been saved, and/or have not read the Bible, you won’t know or understand any of what we are saying. Our Lord, gives us this authority! If you want that authority, please reach out to us and we will walk you through a simple prayer that will save you and YOU WILL have the authority!!! But, remember, if you don’t use the authority, you’re going to get divided and you won’t even know it! Satan is going to ruin every relationship; he’s going to attack your mind, body, family, finances… EVERYTHING in your life.  He wants to destroy you! The good news is Jesus loves you and He’s giving you His authority. It’s not hard when you pray out loud as Vik did earlier.

Divorce is the ultimate division. For every divorced couple, at one point in time, they were madly in love. We believe that most people who fail in marriage wanted to be happy, but they got divided. We believe they did not have Jesus at the center. Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. He wants to take away our happiness, our intimacy and our love. JESUS IS LOVE! So, if Jesus is at the center of our marriages, Satan is defeated!!

There are two ways to defeat the enemy: #1-Overcoming the devil’s strategy to divide us as couples, away from God and away from each other. #2-Understanding UNITY and how to establish it in your marriage.

Way #1-The enemy tries to deceive us about love and marriage.  We have mass deception related to marriage.  Social Media is a classic example of deception!  People fall victim to comparison. They believe that one couples life is perfect and without problems. The truth is people only show the best of their lives on social media. Marriage is work. Remember in Genesis 2:24, it talks about cleaving to your wife. The word cleave means work.  It means marriage only works when YOU work at it.  But it’s SO worth it!  The #1 reason for divorce is DISAPPOINTMENT. People get married thinking it’s going to be easy, we’re right for each other, we’re soulmates.  Then life happens! You’re dealing with sick kids, bills, work, landlords, pandemics (that’s a new one for everyone, wouldn’t you say)…Then the question arises: Do you really love each other?

The BEST marriages are two people that get married; they commit to each other; they roll up their sleeves with Jesus at the center. We first turn to our Lord, surrender and repent. Then when Satan comes, he cannot use anything against us because we have been forgiven. Then we praise our God! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!! And we keep focusing on God. It’s the only way to win and have UNITY IN MARRIAGE! IF NOT, THEN, SADLY, YOU WILL BE ONE OF THE STATISTIICS OF DIVORCE.

Way #2, let’s discuss Understanding Unity in marriage. We just need to be aware of what the devil is doing. There are 3 points to become a unified couple.

  • Surrender your will to our Lord, Jesus Christ, together! If you are not submitted to Jesus, you will not stay unified. God gave us free will and He will allow us to use our will. But understand, if you choose to go against God’s will, HE WILL let you reap what you sow. For example:

Our daughter in law believes in Jesus, but that is about all we knew about her faith. God wanted more and He wanted our granddaughters to be brought up knowing Jesus. So, when this pandemic started, she caught COVID and was very, very sick for 3 weeks. Isolated from her babies, 2 and 3 years old. She was put on oxygen because it was hard for her to breathe. She was 28 years old. Vik and I went straight to Jesus! We had everyone praying! When she finally started feeling better, we asked her to post her testimony on social media to let everyone know that God had saved her life. She never did. 2 weeks later, she had a heart attack. They say it was a residual affect from the COVID. We and everyone else prayed! Again, she came through without any damage! What a miracle!!! We asked her, again, to post her testimony, but she did not. 3 weeks after that she got COVID for the 2nd time along with pneumonia! She was hospitalized for 5 days. We were beside ourselves. We kept asking God, what is going on? What can we do? HE told Vik that Satan was trying to take her out. Boy, we were praying fervently! Going deep into prayer! Finally, after a week her lungs were clear AND she recovered a 3rd time! BUT this time, she posted her testimony immediately! So, she was attacked not once, not twice, but 3 times!!! And Jesus brought her through EVERY TIME!!! We were on our knees, crying and thanking Jesus!!! It was only by the grace of God that she survived!! Thank you, Father! Since she posted her testimonial about how God saved her, she has not been attacked!! That was back at the end of October. See, what we mean by reaping what you sow?! That was tough on the entire family! But we worked together!

  • Make all important decisions together. You are a team. Every blessing and successful marriage flows from Unity. Communication is KEY!
  • Pray together and pray together regularly. If you don’t pray together now, START! In Philippians 4:6, it reads ‘Don’t worry about anything; instead, PRAY about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all He has done.’

When you come together and pray, you are to pray about what you are worried about.  That’s your prayer list.  The result of prayer is fulfillment. Prayer binds us spiritually and it, also, invites God into all of our problems. Vik and I don’t sit around worrying about our family, money or the ministry. We gave it all to Jesus. It doesn’t mean we don’t get anxious or worried. No, we are living in this world just like everyone else, but we have each other to remind us to turn it over to God. We help each other. We work together. It’s not always easy, but it’s WORTH IT! Remember, with GOD all things are possible!

Please know, we all need Jesus in our lives and in our marriages. It’s the only way we can have success. God created and designed marriage. So, let’s honor Him through Unity in our Marriages!
