Funny title, right? Well, let’s think about that for a minute because I don’t think it’s funny.

You see, my husband has put me on a pedestal before. It really hurts my heart. God belongs on a pedestal, not a human being. Humans sin every day. God is merciful and forgives us because Jesus died on the cross to absolve us from our sin. He is the only one who does not sin.

So, I have a hard time when my husband puts me on that pedestal. That tells me He is not putting God first. How can He lead our family if He is not honoring God?

I have a past just like everyone does. I am not perfect. I do my best every day to be a good person, to love others, to pray for others, to point everyone towards Jesus. But I do not always succeed. I repent and pray for forgiveness. It’s the only way to be cleansed. I know my Father in heaven will forgive me because that is what the Bible says!

In 1 John 1;8-9 NIV, it says, “8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

So you see, humans do not belong on pedestals. Only Jesus Christ has the right to be there! If you put your wife on the pedestal, then take her down and put Jesus in His rightful place. That way you can lead your family the way that God wants you to!
