1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV, “16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Most parents pray for their children and their spouses. But if we are to be the Bride of Christ, we need to make our prayers BIGGER!
We MUST continue to use our whole temple (our body) for the furtherment of the Kingdom of God. What do I mean by that, you may ask. Well, here are some ideas:
~Pray for the crops all over the world; Pray for the Evangelists on the ground (all over the world); for the teachers in the schools; for the local businesses that help support the ministries around the world, including the business you are in; for the food banks that help those in need; for our medical staff that provide care, day in and day out; for the mentally challenged individuals; for those who have lost hope; whatever the Holy Spirit puts on your heart…PRAY BIGGER! Just like Jesus teaches us to pray with every part of our being, meaning heart, soul and mind!
If you don’t know how to pray, Jesus teaches us in the Bible how to pray in Matthew 6:9-13 NKJV, “9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed by Your name, 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen”
For instance, think about this! Jesus does not command us like a military leader. He does not tell us to forge ahead. He tells us to look up before we embark. He tells us before we go out into the world, that He wants us to have gone up; to pray about what You are going to do.
Another scripture He uses is Matthew 9:37-38 NIV which reads, “37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore to send out workers into His harvest field.””
So, here Jesus is asking us to pray that God would send workers out into the field. He is not asking us to pray for ourselves, but to pray for others! Perhaps, you pray for other men and women in business this week that they would make a difference through their work. Maybe, they could pray for a co-worker because they are having some challenges at home. Pray that these men and women would choose to share Jesus Christ when it is an appropriate time and bless those they work with. Pray for the business communities in your area to be Difference Makers for God!
You can start small, like, if you are a teacher then pray for teachers; if you are an accountant, then pray for your industry. You get the picture. We all need prayer! In fact, you can teach your family to pray this way, too!
When I worked in Corporate America, I was the one in my workplace that everyone came to for prayer. God used me in my workplace to help others through prayer. I pray about EVERYTHING! This is my life!
This is how we can begin to grow the Kingdom, by praying! Start small and begin to PRAY BIGGER!
I hope this helps you and your marriage! You can always go to our Prayer Wall and add a prayer request. It does not need to be about marriage or a relationship. It can be about anything! It would be our pleasure to pray and stand with you!
If you need to talk with someone, please reach out to info@unitymarriageministry.org. It would bless and honor us to speak with you! REMEMBER:
WE ARE HERE FOR YOU!
