WHY DO WE HURT THE ONES WE LOVE?

In spending time with the Lord, He showed me this scripture:

“Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died – more than that, who was raised to life – is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Romans 8:34 NIV

WOW! Jesus is interceding for us…ME! I know the Holy Spirit does, but I never realized Jesus Christ did, too! I know they are both God. This scripture just hit me like a ton of bricks!

How deep is His love for us?! What a profound verse! I have read this scripture before, but it really hit home this morning. I know we all say things in the heat of the moment and then we regret what came out of our mouth. It was mean, cruel and hurtful. Why do we hurt the ones we love?

We are human. I get that, but I don’t understand why we need to hurt each other. I know it’s a defense mechanism. BUT why are we programmed that way?

How many people hurt Jesus, physically, verbally and emotionally, not to mention, spiritually? When He walked this earth, He was human, too. God did this on purpose to be able to understand what we go through. So, why do we feel the need to hurt others, especially those that we claim to love?

BUT GOD!! I’m so thankful He uses these hurts to grow us up and make us better people!

Since we know how it feels to be hurt, we can choose to be like those who hurt us (which the enemy would love) OR we can choose t be like Jesus and forgive them for they know not what they do! Did Jesus cry? Yes, of course, He did! But He always chose to LOVE FIRST!

I find that when I am upset with my husband and he’s acting like a child, I have to stop talking. That is so so hard to do! I have to walk away, out of ear shot. I have to pray in the Spirit (tongues) so the Holy Spirit can help me. It is more important for me to get myself right with God than it is for me to argue with my husband.

I’m thankful I have learned these lessons, but I still succumb sometimes and must repent. I must ask for forgiveness.

Thank You, Father Jesus, for being my example; for loving me so much; for sending the Holy Spirit to help me! I cannot be in this world without You! I am not strong enough. I rely on You for You are my rock, my firm foundation! Thank You for saving me! In Jesus’ precious name I pray, Amen!

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 NIV

“being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6 NIV

“Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the skies.” Psalms 36:5 NIV
